The Orchard Olympics

Posted on 22 Dec 2011 by @edjoyce

With the 2012 Summer Olympics around the corner and Orchard searching for a healthy alternative to the end of year celebration, the company was divided into four coloured groups, issued a designer team shirt courtesy of our design team and unceremoniously shipped to Shark Island for a veritable battle royale of cunning, wits and sheer unbridled athleticism that will be forever remembered as the inaugural  Orchard Olympics. Vying for the coveted winner’s trophy/paper-weight, the day saw the Red Rad Bulls face off against the Lean Mean Green Beans, Agent Oranges and Blue Kamikaze Smurfs in a series of extreme sports ranging from egg and spoon races to Australian trivia.

Competition was fierce but tis the season for giving and give they did. Kevin Millers Kamikaze Smurfs (formerly known as the Blue Jobs) were quick to bring the competition to their knees through a combination of great ball handling skills and unmatched enthusiasm in the “three legged race” before finishing them off with a sustained tug-o-war. With the day drawing to a close the charade was over and the taste of victory was on their lips.

Once the dust had settled the teams cast aside their differences and celebrated their efforts welcoming the warm embrace of inebriation in unity at the prestigious Argyle bar in the Rocks.

Happy Holidays!
